On Tuesday 31st of April 2019, JMS celebrated International Earth Day- a moment to reflect deeply on the wonders of our bounteous planet and to come together around actions to protect our only home.
Here at JMS, we are global citizens who care for our world. Earth Day is, therefore, the perfect opportunity to promote the importance of being environmentally friendly.
As part of our Earth Day promise to protect our environment, our primary children started the day by planting herb plants.
Contact with nature is a source of wonder and inspiration for children, and this is essential for their holistic development. We want our children to learn how they should love, respect and take good care of their planet so that future generations can enjoy it too.
Becoming ‘eco-literate’ once again – being able to read Nature’s signs, moods and laws and adapt our behaviours and rules as individuals and societies- is essential to navigating the challenge of climate change. It is incumbent upon us to adapt to our places and live well within mother nature’s limits and boundaries.
During lunchtime the EY children enjoyed a picnic on the playground. Many more activities were enjoyed by all, including figurine making using recycled materials, cleaning the garden and planting new trees on school grounds.
